We at Sashkaproject are incredibly proud to have had the honor of contributing to a significant event in the world of cinema! Our team of stylists created the look for the talented Ukrainian director Polina Piddubna on the red carpet of the 78th Cannes International Film Festival.

The young Ukrainian director presented her film "My Grandmother is a Skydiver" in the official La Cinef section – a prestigious program for newcomers at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. Her work, striking in its depth and mastery, was selected from over 2,700 submissions and represented Germany at this distinguished forum.

For such a landmark event, the Sashkaproject team aimed to create a look that combines Polina's individuality, strength, and cultural identity. This vision was stylishly realized by our professional stylists and makeup artists using carefully selected Ukrainian brands, emphasizing the uniqueness of the moment.

About the Film: "My Grandmother is a Skydiver"

The film "My Grandmother is a Skydiver" is a 13-minute poetic animadoc, co-produced with the Babelsberg Konrad Wolf Film University. The film masterfully combines elements of drama with historical, political, and feminist cinema.

At the heart of the story is a touching tale of intergenerational connection. In 1960s Tajikistan, parachutist Alfiya unexpectedly receives a phone call from her granddaughter in Ukraine in 2022. What at first glance seems like a story about a grandmother planting tulips in Kharkiv under shelling and lamenting the absence of bees, unfolds in a few minutes into an entire universe – from Central Asia in the 1960s to war-torn Ukraine in 2022. The granddaughter's call to grandmother Alfiya becomes an emotional bridge between generations, reflecting on life, loss, identity, and hope.

Our Pride and a Bridge Between Cultures

For us, the Sashkaproject team, Polina is a true bridge between Ukraine and Germany. As a graduate of the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB), she has never forgotten her homeland and now honorably and creatively represents it on the grand world stage. We are happy to be part of her journey!
